Who Do You See? Women and Their Self Esteem
Ladies, sometimes I think all of our homes are filled with Fun House mirrors. You know, the ones you look in and everything is distorted?
My interactions with people have been that many (if not most) women are critical about their physical appearance. Even those ladies that you see and think, “My gosh! She is beautiful. She cannot possibly feel she has any flaws.” WWRROONNGGGG!!!!
The thing is...You can think to yourself “If only my nose was smaller, my boobs were bigger, my skin was more brown than pink…” Whatever. The thing to remember is-
BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
Really.
What you may think is the perfect look is not the same as someone else's view of the perfect look.
The next thing to remember is-
BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP. At least that is the case for physical beauty. Inner beauty is the most important.
When you receive a gift it is so nice to see the pretty wrapping with a matching bow. Then you rip all of that off because you want what is inside. That is the important part. The same is true with you. The outer beauty may catch their attention for a minute but the inner beauty will keep them for a lifetime. Whether this is a romantic relationship, friendship, or other. That part of you is the true gift.
Now I understand it is easier for me to say this than for you to always believe it. (Believe me! I have the same difficulties!) So it is something we have to remind ourselves about.
Here is some homework for you. (No Ms. Karen!!! Not homework!!!)
Every day list three things about you that are beautiful.
Here is a very short list to help you:
I am caring
I am friendly
I am trustworthy
I am loyal
I am ….
You can do this. Remember your inner beauty!
